Jenna's Busy Day

Jenna had a Saturday never to be forgotten, and thankfully she pulled it all off!  Here is a timeline:

  • 2:30 am -- arrive back home after trip to Salt Lake City and performances in the Tabernacle at Temple Square with both the Madison High School Choir and Orchestra
  • 7:15 am -- wake up  to get ready to take the ACT (for the second time) and look outside to see a driving Rexburg blizzard, or first of the year.
  • 7:30 am -- the power goes out on our block so we cannot print the ACT admissions ticket, so we run to Dad's Office to print it, but the power is out there as well.
  • 7:50 am -- we arrive at the ACT test site and plead for mercy, which is thankfully granted and she is allowed to take the test.
  • 8:00 am t0 12:00 noon -- Take the ACT
  • 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm -- Participate in the regional ballroom dance competition and have to compete with several partners, most of which are new to the ballroom dance world.  Thankfully, a couple of her partners are experienced and she wins 2nd place in Cha Cha, fourth in the Quick Step, and 4th in the Rumba (see video of cha cha finals at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yl5AEy2NCC8).
  • 6:30 pm -- Jenna is picked up for her date to the Christmas Formal (see pic)
  • Sometime around 1:00 am (the next day), she returns home and to bed, yeah!

Well, the big day has come and gone and Matthew and Aubrey are off on their honeymoon.  We all had a great day in the Rexburg Temple and at our Rexburg reception.  We owe a lot of thanks to all those who helped out.  It was really a wonderful day.   Matthew and Aubrey are truly a happy couple and we wish them well!

Our visit to see Kelli in Roosevelt

Mom and I and the kids went to see Kelli in Roosevelt. We had a wonderful time being lazy and hanging out. We went to the dinosaur museum to see Bryce's dinosaurs that he made. On our way home from there we had lunch at the Stockman. We went and visited Bryce's grave. Brad's rice krispy treat was still there, but some four-legged thing got off with the slurpy. The kids swam in the hot tub. We had such a great time. Not to mention the delicious meal that Kelli and Michael made for us on Sunday. Great trip! Thanks Kelli for your great hospitality.

Some Pirates, Wedding, and Matthew and Aubrey

We have some pirates in the house in anticipation of Halloween.  Also, Jenna is getting married, this Tuesday.  Here is a pic of her in her wedding dress.  Actually, it is a pretend wedding for a mutual activity.  Finally, here is a picture of Matthew and Aubrey after Matt's Vocal Union Concert.

Brad's visit to Bryce

Brad and Suzie stopped in Roosevelt this morning and had breakfast with Bryce (so to speak). One of the last breakfasts that Brad had with Bryce was a Slurpie and a green rice krispy treat from Maverik. When you stayed with Bryce during his last few months, you would wake up to Bryce with his hat and shoes on and you would have no idea what you were in for. Usually it was to go out for breakfast. Sometimes it was a trip to the grocery store. I remember getting out of bed and not having time to barely comb my hair. Bryce wanted to go to produce store get some fresh fruit. When we got there, he got a little confused and was looking at plants. Luckily, he remembered what we were there for and got a nice big watermelon. I was to afraid to tell him that there was all ready one at home that hadn't even been cut into.

Matthew's Hairline

They say receding hairlines is passed down from mother to son.  We think Matthew may have the gene, plus with the stress of getting married, finding an apartment, school, and work, his hair is suddenly receding at a pretty fast pace.

Oh well, he already found his girl, so things could be worse!

Alaskan Cruise

Matthew and the old man recently hosted a BYUI Alumni Cruise with 126 guests.  We left from Seattle and made stops in Juneau, Skagway, and Prince Rupert, BC.  We also sailed up the Endicott Arm and visited the Dawes Glacier.  Along the way we saw whales, bald eagles, hiked an old gold rush trail, floated a river, and ate too much.  We had a great time, but Matthew did miss his fiance terribly.

Brad & Susie Baja Mexico Cruise

We had a wild hair a couple weeks ago and decided to book a cruise.  We noticed that the week of July 24th was a short work week and if we took three days of vacation we could have the whole week off.  Jamie was at girls camp all week, so we decided to book a last minute cruise.  It was a five night Baja Mexico.  We stopped at Cabo San Lucas and Masitlan.  It was a nice relaxing week, we just shopped, slept and ate.  We need to think of the Sherrel and Mary 50th anniversary cruise around March of 2010.  I vote for Caribean, or Alaska.  What does everyone think?

4th of July at the beach

We spent the evening of the 4th of July at the beach waiting to watch the fireworks. The kids enjoyed playing in the water, Zachary even caught a couple of small crabs.

Visiting Wells & Emma Lou

We stopped at Uncle Wells and Aunt Emma Lou's on our way to visit Kathy's parents. Kaitlyn and Zachary especially enjoyed the horses.

Emrie Update

Well, Emrie Grace will be 9 months old next week.  She is fast getting into the toddler stage, well at least the climbing up on furniture and getting into about everything.  Her favorite thing is to open cupboards and pull everything out.  She loves the dishwasher and she no longer quietly seeks attention from her crib, it is stand up and shout out!  She also loves her Johnny Jump Up.  Oh, she is also showing a bit of a temper, especially with Isaac.  The sibling rivalry is beginning early.   It will be interesting to see who wins, so far Isaac is the tease and Emrie does not put up with any guff -- it should be fun to watch.

Here are 4 pictures and one video clip.

Brad and Susie Cruise 2008 with Josh, Trevor, Ryan, and Jamie

We had a great cruise and took lots of pictures. Instead of loading the pictures here I loaded them into a google web album located at this link: http://picasaweb.google.com/guedo99/BradAndSusieCruise2008

We visited Grand Cayman where we snorkled with Rays, Honduras where we snorkled at Bryces favorite beach, tabayana, Belize where we visitied the Altu Ha mayan site, and Cozumel where we snorkled at Chakanaub.

It was a great cruise.

I think we should plan a Sherrel and Mary 50th anniversary cruise around March 2010. What does everyone else think?

Christopher has a Blog!

Christopher has been asking to have dad help him with a blog so he can share some of his art work. So, please check it out at http://www.artbycd.blogspot.com/. I think he wants to be a bit like Brandon who has a super art blog at www.brandondorman.blogspot.com/. He draws every day, so check out the blog often to see his progress.

Josh's Graduation Layton High Class of 2008

Here are some pictures from Josh's graduation. It hard to believe he graduated. Not that I didn't think he could do it but that he is old enough to graduate. His current plans are to go to Seattle for the summer and sell security systems and then leave for a mission in January. He is really a good kid. I think from these pictures that he is taller than me and grandpa. I guess it is time for me to admit it.

Kitten anyone?

Our cat had kittens! Well - it is technically the neighbors cat. This cat decided to take up residence at our house. It has been around for about 8 months. The father of these new kittens was our cat that disappeared about 3 weeks ago. Luckily this mama cat is house trained. We use to let it in the house during the winter. It snuck in the house a couple days ago and we forgot to let it out. When Lauren went to bed she heard puring from the closet. She went to get Tiger out and she found a baby kitten. She was inside of her toy box. Luckily she was laying on an apron. She did not want to come out even when we found all three kittens and made a nice bed. So, we took all the toys out and made her a nice bed in the toy box. She is the luckiest cat. Lauren has been loving her and the kittens like crazy. I actually think we have found homes for two of them. We shall see - but if you want a kitten - let me know.
